The Effect of Motor skills, Play Activities, and Nutritional Status on the Elementary School Students' Physical Fittness at SD IT Buah Hati Padang

Abstract


The problem of the research was about the lack of physical fitness of elementary school students at SD IT Buah Hati Padang. This research was revealed  to identify the effect of motor skills, play activities, and nutritional status on the elementary school students' physical fitness.

The research method was quantitative by using the path analysis approach. The population of the research  was all of SD IT students up to 321 people. The sampling technique was taken by total sampling, with a total sample of 43 people. Data was collected by passing basketball, 4 seconds running, throwing basketball, jumping without a prefix to measure motor skills, filling out questionnaires for knowing about play activities, measuring weight and height for nutritional status and for measuring the students' physical fitness, the researcher used TKJI tests that were specifically designed for elementary school children .

The results of the research and data analysis revealed that 1) Motor skills had a direct and significant effect on the students'  physical fitness of 2.89 percent, 2) Play activities directly affected the students' physical fitness of 2.66 percent, 3) Nutritional status directly affected the students'  physical fitness of 1.28 percent, 4) Motor skills indirectly affected the students' physical fitness through nutritional status of 2.97,  5) Play activities indirectly affected the students' physical fitness through nutritional status of 2.01 percent, 6) Motor  skills, play activities, and nutritional status significantly influenced the students' physical fitness of 11.1 percent.
